A routine dental visit to Anderson Dentistry will always include an oral cancer screening as part of your exam. During the exam you will be checked for any red or white patches in your mouth or any unusual sores. If an unusual patch or sore is found further testing will be recommended.

Major factors that increase cancer risk are tobacco use and heavy drinking.

Should you notice any changes in your mouth between visits such as:

  • a sore or lesion that does not heal within two weeks,
  • a lump or thickening in the cheek,
  • or a white or red patch on the gums, tongue, tonsil, or lining of the mouth,
